Do you want to know how to adopt a growth mindset to earn great grades?
If so, keep reading because I will tell you 3 things you can do to do this.
Know What Your Goal Is and WANT IT!

This is the first step towards earning great grades since without knowing what you want and establishing it as a goal, you have no realistic basis for achieving the goal.
It’s like driving a car without knowing where you are going.
Have you done that before?
You get in the car, you do not know where you are going. 15 minutes pass by, 30 minutes pass by, and then an hour passes by and you are still driving around clueless about what you will do.
Do you know the results of that?
Wasted time, money, and gas.
Ouch.
It’s the same thing with earning great grades in school. You go to school and you don’t know the purpose behind earning great grades, the WHY behind earning great grades. Hence, you are confused about why you are in college and there is no reason to want great grades.
What happens?
You earn bad grades, flunk out of classes, and waste your time and money or someone else’s time and money.
This is REALLY bad.
Now, let’s look at the story of when you DO know where you are going in the car.
You tell yourself that you will go to the gas station to fill up your car’s gas tank and then you will go back home.
You get in the car and go straight to the gas station. You fill up your tank with gas. Since you know that you’ll go straight home, you go straight home.
Done.
On top of that, all of that only took 15 minutes.
Not bad for the time.
Now, in the context of earning great grades, let’s imagine this:
Before you go to college (or early on in college), you decide that you want to be a doctor. You know for a fact that this goal requires you to earn great grades.
Hence, you REALLY want to earn great grades!
Since you established this goal, you waste no time trying to learn everything you can about earning great grades. You do what needs to be done to earn great grades and you learn from your mistakes (if any).
The result?
You graduate as soon as you can and you earn the best grades possible (hopefully straight As :)).
And on top of that?
You get into medical school.
I’m sure you’ve heard countless accounts of both sides of the story I’ve just told you. The point is this:
If you want to grow to achieve your academic goal, you have GOT TO, for a lack of a better phrase, “see the reaching.”
Once you see it, you’ll internally motivate yourself to do what you need to do to achieve your academic goal.
Why is this?
Because when you see the reaching, you will believe that your goal is possible and that you won’t let anything stop you from achieving it.
Hence, all of the other actions you need to do to achieve your goal will be on autopilot.
You’ll just follow your gut without thinking about it.
Now, how do you envision your goal being achieved?
Read on and I’ll tell you.
Envision Yourself Achieving Your Goal

The short answer is this:
Just see yourself achieving this.
Now, to do this, you have to REALLY want your goal.
What is driving you to be that doctor, or that lawyer, or that engineer, or that executive, or that (whatever your goal is)?
What is driving you?
Write it down.
Once you know this, you’ll know your why for achieving your goal.
When you know why you must achieve your goal, you’ll see yourself achieving it because you simply can’t do without it.
And then, you’ll adopt a thinking of “How can I achieve this?” instead of “I can’t do that.”
That is the first step to having a growth mindset.
SEE the goal and know WHY you MUST achieve the goal.
The know-how will come naturally.
That is the magic power of intuition.
You need to want it to develop the know-how to get where you want to go.
I know this technique works because I’ve done it multiple times to earn some of the highest grades in my classes throughout college. I’ve had several 4.0 GPA semesters because of this.
I saw myself achieving the goals I set for myself and knowing why I wanted to accomplish these goals.
For example, I earned these 4.0 GPA semesters because I wanted to get into an Ivy League MBA program to become a big powerful corporate executive.
I even got results like this:

Not bad as an undergraduate, won’t you say?
You can achieve similar results if you apply the framework below.
Simply do this:

Work Toward Earning Those Great Grades & Learn From Your Mistakes

Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard!
Let’s face it. If you don’t put in the work, none of this matters.
You will get nowhere.
You have to take the first step on a trip of 1,000 miles.
Every day you work, the closer you will get to your goals.
The harder you work, the luckier you’ll get.
You’ll need to do every practice problem given to you and do every reading assigned to you to earn the best grades possible.
This is the price you have to pay to earn the grades needed to achieve your goal (and your dream life).
You’ll mess up and tumble along the way (in a productive way), but if you learn from these mistakes and push forward, you will succeed.
Period.
I’ve had my fair share of mistakes in college. One of them resulted in me earning a B+ instead of an A-. I learned from it and I didn’t make the same mistake the next time. As a result, I earned a 4.0 GPA the next semester.
As long as you learn from your mistakes, you’ll be fine.
Just don’t make stupid mistakes.
Common sense will tell you what these mistakes are.
Don’t forget to reach for the stars. If you don’t grab one, you’ll still be on top of the world.
Shoot for the impossible and you’ll get all of the glory available.
Think about that the next time you work.
If you work to get a 100% instead of a 70% or even a 90%, think about how well your results will be.
You will have pushed yourself well beyond what you would have if you thought you’d get worse results. Hence, your results will be better.
This is my experience in earning great grades. The example of me earning the highest grade in a class of undergraduates and graduate students is an example of this phenomenon in action.
I thought I’d get a 100% on the exam. While I didn’t get 100%, I got very close.
I bet you’ll get similar results if you adopt that same mentality.
